What is a Curator Review and How Does It Work?

Pro members have the opportunity to participate in personalized one-on-one curator reviews with our experienced curators. These reviews are designed to provide artists, regardless of their career stage, with valuable feedback, guidance, and potential opportunities for commercial and exhibition purposes through our ATP.art clients.

Signing Up for a Curator Review

To sign up for a curator review, we follow a structured process. At the beginning of each new quarter, we send out a newsletter announcing the quarterly signups for portfolio reviews exclusively for our studio members. To register, members can click on the provided link on their Artrepreneur dashboard and select a preferred time slot with one of our curators.

Confirmation and Preparation

Upon successful registration, both the member and curator receive a confirmation email. This email includes important information such as the preparation requirements, review format, and expectations. It is crucial for the member to read and follow these instructions to adequately prepare for the review.

Selecting Works for Review

Before the review, members are asked to choose three of their works to discuss with the curator. These selections will serve as the focal points of the review session. Members should be prepared to either screen share their images or email them to the reviewer ahead of the review time.

Ensuring Smooth Communication

To ensure effective communication during the live review, both members and curators should check their internet connections beforehand. It is recommended that reviewers test their video and audio settings before the scheduled day to ensure everything is working properly.

The Day of the Review

It is important to start the review promptly at the scheduled time to make the most of the allocated session. The review itself typically lasts between 15-20 minutes, with an additional 10 to 15 minutes allocated for artist questions. During this time, the curator will provide feedback and discuss the selected works in detail.

Curator Review Followup

The curator will provide a concise summary of the key points they consider as the most relevant takeaways from the review within 48 hours.

Curator Review Cancellation Policy:

We understand that unforeseen circumstances may arise that require the cancellation of a scheduled curator review. However, to ensure the efficient and fair allocation of resources, we have implemented the following cancellation policy:

Cancellation Notice:
If a reviewee needs to cancel a curator review, they must provide notice of cancellation at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled review. Notice of cancellation should be requested by using the cancelation link provided in the initial confirmation email.

Consequences of Late Cancellation:
a. If a reviewee cancels a curator review less than 24 hours before the scheduled time, they will forfeit one of their two annual reviews.
b. In the event of multiple late cancellations within a single year, the reviewee’s eligibility for future curator reviews may be reconsidered.

Rescheduling Options:
a. If a reviewee needs to reschedule a curator review, we will make every effort to accommodate their request, subject to the availability of our curators.
b. However, rescheduling requests made within 24 hours of the original scheduled review will be subject to the consequences outlined in point above.

Exceptions:
Exceptions to this cancellation policy may be considered in cases of emergencies or extenuating circumstances. Reviewees should reach out to our organization as soon as possible to discuss their situation and explore possible alternatives.

By adhering to this cancellation policy, we aim to ensure a smooth and organized process for both our curators and reviewees. It allows us to effectively allocate resources and offer fair opportunities to all artists seeking curator reviews. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in this matter.

Special Notes

As a Pro member, you have the privilege of scheduling up to two curator reviews per year as part of your membership perks. To ensure equitable access, we maintain a member sign-up tracker to monitor adherence to the maximum limit of two appointments per calendar year.

Furthermore, to maintain a balanced distribution of appointments, Pro members must observe a six-month gap between each curator review signup. This ensures that all members get a fair chance to benefit from these sessions.

Should a member attempt to register for more than two portfolio reviews within a 12-month period, they will promptly receive a notification detailing the cancellation of the additional sign-up. In such instances, if the member intends to proceed with a legitimate review, the curator will be responsible for reopening the appointment slot.

Our curator reviews offer Pro members an invaluable opportunity to receive personalized feedback and guidance from experienced curators. By adhering to the outlined sign-up process, adequately preparing their portfolio, and ensuring a stable internet connection, members can optimize their review sessions and propel their artistic journeys forward.
