Artwork Requirements for Selling Originals

Artwork Requirements for Selling Originals

To participate in selling your original works through Artrepreneur, artists are encouraged to submit their works by adhering to the following requirements. These guidelines ensure that your artwork is represented at its best and maintains the standards expected for original pieces. All the requirements from the Commercial Ready Program apply here as well, with a specific focus on selling original artwork.

Types of Artworks

We focus on non-figurative artworks, such as abstracts, landscapes, and contemporary pieces. These genres are preferred for their universal appeal, easily blending into diverse environments like corporate offices, hospitality venues, and retail spaces.

Quality and Size Requirements:

  • Image File Size: To represent your artwork effectively, ensure your submission has a minimum image size of at least 2200px on the shorter side. This helps display your work in detail and gives curators a better understanding of the quality of your piece. Artworks smaller than 2200px on the shorter side will not be approved for sale.
  • For Originals: The focus is on high-quality and clear representation of the artwork on your listing. While the flexibility of size is greater compared to prints, the image should accurately showcase your work.
  • Limited Edition Originals: If you produce Limited Edition prints (not managed by Artrepreneur), these can be included under the category of Original works.

Content Appropriateness

Artworks should be suitable for a broad audience, avoiding themes that might be divisive or controversial. Ideal content is non-offensive, culturally sensitive, and does not provoke strong negative reactions. This includes avoiding explicit, political, or sensitive religious imagery, ensuring the art is welcoming and inclusive for all viewers.

Pitfalls to Avoid for Original Submissions:

  • Clarity of Images: While high resolution is not as critical for original works as for prints, ensure your images are clear and free of blurriness. This helps curators get a true sense of your artwork’s quality and detail.
  • Accurate Representation: Ensure your photographs accurately represent the colors and textures of your original artwork. Misrepresentation can lead to challenges during the curation process.
  • Size Considerations: Although original works do not have strict size requirements for images, providing larger images can help curators better understand the scale and impact of your work.

By meeting these criteria, your artwork stands a better chance of being selected for display and sale, ensuring it aligns with the high standards expected for selling originals. Please make sure to review each requirement thoroughly before submitting your artwork.
