Description
A favorite collage of the first series, using a variety of living beings co-existing in a n abstract world. Created with materials from a variety of sources, many from long past eras.
The image is a mixed media piece. Central to the artwork is a bird with the outstretched hand of a figure, holding a circular green object which might be perceived as a fruit, with its beak touching the object. This primary feature is surrounded by a collage of various elements including multiple birds, with one notable bird resembling a robin in the lower right, and at the top left, there are images of birds in flight. The background of the piece is beige and contains additional features such as birds, foliage, and objects including an abstract human figure, an apple, and possibly a peach. Notable text within the artwork reads "I Thought I Stood". Other materials such as torn paper and fine green feathers augment the collage, which creates a layered and textured effect. The image conveys a mysterious and haunting atmosphere, inviting viewers to explore the intricate relationships between the different elements. The collage also includes elements reminiscent of three-winged insects, against a backdrop of torn newspaper contrasted on the light-colored papers. The phrase "e get his color fro" and the word "artic" are partially visible, contributing to the eclectic and thought-provoking nature of the piece.

My studio is located in the village of Saugerties, New York, in the Hudson Valley. where I create my beautiful, innovative, prize-winning sculpture, paintings and drawings; portfolios that have been developed over six decades. Beginning as a painter in oils, and having always loved drawing, in my travels, I met a sculptor (Jasmine Saunders) who invited me to join her life drawing group in her studio. From her influence, I began to carve wood, and have never looked back! Sculpture is my first lov
