Description

Ever wondered what makes a guitar sing? This close-up shot reveals the intricate dance of strings, wood, and metal that brings music to life. The bridge, with its polished metal and smooth contours, stands ready to support the melodies waiting to be unleashed.

Isn’t it fascinating how something so simple can hold so much potential? Each pickup, like a little ear, is poised to capture every note, every strum, and every heartfelt chord.

I mean, can you picture the stories this guitar could tell? The late-night jam sessions, the quiet moments of reflection, or maybe even a spontaneous road trip soundtrack?

For this series, I wanted to showcase my old electric guitar. It's a simple instrument really. Six strings, three pickups, a stock bridge. Nothing magical about it at first glance. No, the magic happens in the hands of the artist. Just as in the visual arts (I'm a practicing photographer.) the magic comes through the voice of the artist. The sounds you can play, the potential, the rock and roll spirit, it all comes out through the wood and the grain, the pickups and the bridge. The steel strings glistening in the light, waiting for you to play your favorite song. As a visual artist, I'm drawn to the abstract, to the lines, to the shapes, to the patterns objects make on the world. I wanted to explore the guitar in this way, as a form and subject itself. The guitar is a hunk of wood, yes, but it's got a soul and a spirit too. I believe that every detail has a story to tell. Whether it’s the glint of sunlight on a water surface or the intricate patterns of a guitar, I aim to reveal the beauty that often goes unnoticed. This is a close up look at a guitar. It's a simple instrument really. One from which many dreams are made.
