Description

Want to know what it is? Just a close-up of a guitar, but oh, the stories it could tell!

Look at those strings, taut and ready to sing. The bridge, a sturdy little hero, holding everything together like a good friend at a jam session. And that hardware? It’s like the unsung cast of a rock opera, quietly doing its job while the spotlight shines on the music.

I mean, can you feel the energy? It’s as if this guitar is just waiting for someone to strum a chord and set the room ablaze with sound.

For this series, I wanted to showcase my old electric guitar. It's a simple instrument really. Six strings, three pickups, a stock bridge. Nothing magical about it at first glance. No, the magic happens in the hands of the artist. Just as in the visual arts (I'm a practicing photographer.) the magic comes through the voice of the artist. The sounds you can play, the potential, the rock and roll spirit, it all comes out through the wood and the grain, the pickups and the bridge. The steel strings glistening in the light, waiting for you to play your favorite song. As a visual artist, I'm drawn to the abstract, to the lines, to the shapes, to the patterns objects make on the world. I wanted to explore the guitar in this way, as a form and subject itself. The guitar is a hunk of wood, yes, but it's got a soul and a spirit too. I believe that every detail has a story to tell. Whether it’s the glint of sunlight on a water surface or the intricate patterns of a guitar, I aim to reveal the beauty that often goes unnoticed. This is a close up look at a guitar. It's a simple instrument really. One from which many dreams are made.
