Thorsten Otto Bartelt, a visionary self-taught fine art photographer from Berlin, transforms the conventional boundaries between photography and painting through his masterful manipulation of light and color. At 63, his artistic journey reflects decades of experimentation and dedication to pushing the boundaries of photographic expression.

Drawing profound inspiration from the Expressionist movement, Bartelt has pioneered a unique technique of multiple exposures that transcends traditional photography. His work is characterized by an almost alchemical ability to make colors radiate with an inner luminescence, creating compositions that hover between photographic reality and abstract painterly expression.

In his current body of work, Bartelt explores the ethereal relationship between light, color, and form. Through his lens, ordinary subjects undergo a metamorphosis, emerging as vibrant, emotionally charged abstractions that pulse with energy. His multiple exposure technique isn't merely a technical choice – it's a philosophical approach to revealing the hidden dimensions of reality, allowing viewers to experience the world through a prism of heightened sensory awareness.

Each image in his portfolio stands as a testament to his belief that photography can transcend its documentary roots to become a medium of pure artistic expression. His work challenges viewers to question their perceptions of reality while immersing themselves in a world where color becomes emotion and light becomes poetry.

This synthesis of technical precision and artistic intuition has resulted in a body of work that defies categorization, establishing Bartelt as a unique voice in contemporary fine art photography.
