Transience in a Package
Photography / Black and White
Description

A hint of vulnerable elegance nestles within synthetic protection: Three calla lilies rest gently cradled on bubble wrap, marked by the subtle traces of time. Through the masterful control of the plane of focus using the Scheimpflug technique, a precise, almost intimate path of clarity winds its way through the curved calyxes and the gleaming bubbles of the film. The palpable contrast between the organic, fleeting beauty of nature and the artificial, durable shell of plastic raises a quiet, philosophical question: Can the ephemeral be preserved from decay, or does the attempt to freeze the moment only reinforce its transience? Captured in large format, the photograph reveals every nuance of this quiet conflict between preservation and decay.

As a photographer, I am immersed in the fascinating world of doors and entrances. For me, these symbols of transition are more than just architectural elements. They represent the choice between entry and exit, depending on our inner attitude. My photography shows the duality of these choices. An open door can be inviting and a gateway to new adventures. At the same time it can symbolise leaving the familiar and entering the unknown. By photographing doors and entrances, I explore the idea that each passageway offers the possibility of entering another world - a world that is not our own, but someone else's. I find it fascinating how the simple decision to walk through a door can change one's life and perspective. In my photographs I explore the diversity of doors and their surroundings. Each door tells its own story and I love capturing the tension between the familiar and the unfamiliar. My photographs invite the viewer to reflect on their own attitudes to transition and to discover the beauty of exploring new paths. With my camera I capture not only images, but also the emotions and choices involved in walking through a door. Each photograph is an invitation to a journey - a journey into unknown worlds waiting to be discovered.
