Light was quickly fading as the day came to an end. The lifeguard tower, declaring "No Lifeguard On Duty," seemed to embody the stillness of the off-season, when the beach is empty and the crowds are long gone.

The marine layer, thick and enveloping, blurred the horizon, creating a seamless blend between the sky and the sea. The sand, etched with the tracks of vehicles long departed, added to the feeling of abandonment. It was a moment of quiet introspection, where the beauty of the beach was stripped down to its raw, elemental form—no bright sun or playful waves, just the stark contrast of the darkening sky and the cold, empty beach.

This photo captures that fleeting moment of solitude, the kind that only winter at the beach can provide. It's a reminder of the cyclical nature of time, how the same beach that teems with life in the summer can feel so desolate and serene in the off-season. The lifeguard tower, standing steadfast in the fading light, symbolizes endurance and solitude, a sentinel watching over the empty shore.
