Artist Statement
I create abstract works that explore how motion, contrast, and spatial tension shape emotional experience. Each piece begins with a simple gesture — a curve, a sweep, a directional force — and expands into a study of how form can alter the field around it. My interest lies in the internal architectures that govern perception: the quiet geometries beneath feeling, the invisible pressures that guide how we move through visual space.Color functions as both structure and energy in my work. High‑contrast pairings generate friction, while gradients and arcs soften that friction into movement. These interactions reveal how opposing forces can coexist within a shared momentum, creating compositions that feel simultaneously stable and unsettled. I use abstraction not to obscure meaning, but to expose the underlying dynamics that representation often hides. At its core, my practice investigates how difference creates motion — how one form pulls against another, how one color reshapes its counterpart, how tension becomes a generative force

With roots in both visual and performing arts, he brings a rare blend of technical mastery and narrative sensitivity to his work. His current practice centers on digital abstraction and abstract portraiture, where geometry, atmosphere, and emotional resonance converge.Ken’s artistic foundation was shaped through photography studies at Southern Illinois University and UCLA, followed by advanced digital imaging training with Photoshop pioneers Ben Wilmore and Scott Kelby. His technical fluency led to imaging and design work for major corporations including Oracle, J.D. Edwards, PeopleSoft, and Vicon Motion Systems, as well as creative collaborations with galleries and theaters throughout Denver.Parallel to his visual work, Ken spent many years in theater. He trained in improvisation at Chicago’s Second City, acted in stage productions and commercials, and later ran two Chicago theaters as producer, actor, and director. After relocating to Denver, he shifted toward playwriting, working with No Name Playwrights and co‑founding Write Angle Productions. In partnership with Chameleon Stage, he helped launch Colorado Quickies, an evening of ten‑minute plays that ran for fourteen years and became a fixture of the Denver theater community. From 2003 to 2010, Ken founded and operated Before/After, a nationally recognized photo restoration studio. His work was featured in Katrin Eismann’s influential book Adobe Photoshop Restoration & Retouching, underscoring his commitment to preserving memory through digital craft—a theme that continues to inform his artistic vision.Ken’s artwork has been exhibited in juried and curated shows across Colorado, California, and online platforms. His pieces have earned Best in Show awards and are held in the permanent collections of the Littleton Museum and Baker Arts Center in Liberal, KS. Exhibitions include Redline, Los Angeles Center for Digital Art, Palm Art Gallery, Las Laguna Art Gallery, Laguna Beach, the Dairy Center for the Arts, and others. His work has also been featured in Shoutout Colorado and CanvasRebel, highlighting his role as a generational voice in digital creativity. In 2025, Ken’s work appeared in multiple online exhibitions, including Artist Space Gallery’s Monochrome Art Competition, Fusion Art’s Everything Abstract and Red shows, and Grey Cube Gallery’s Yellow exhibition, where he received a Merit Award. The AI Design Awards granted Special Recognition for his series Blue Noir, and his piece Blair is Different was accepted into the National Association of Digital Artists’ Fantasy and Imagination exhibition.
