John Kotos

My work is a meditation on the natural world specifically patterns, forms, and colors. I am deeply influenced by color theory and the work of abstract expressionists. I am particularly drawn to the painters’ ideas of art as a unique form of communication and language even in its most abstract state. With each piece, I aim to have the viewer get lost in the movement of forms and colors in order to communicate the flow state I experience while creating my work.

I am an award-winning self-taught artist from Jacksonville, Florida. My studio is based in St. Johns, Florida, where I live with my wife and two children. I attended Wake Forest University for my Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Masters in Management and received an MBA from the University of Florida. I started painting in 2014 in my free time and only shared my work with a few close family members until I started my Instagram in March 2021. Since that time, I have amassed 11,000+ followers, sold my artwork to buyers in London, New York City, Los Angeles, Miami, and all across the country. Along with this, I have had the honor of working with the band The Strokes and collaborating with the non-profit, 4Ocean.
