Oil Painting
Artist Statement
I paint to share the joyful visions in my mind with others. My hope is to offer some reminders, in a whimsical colorful way of the delightful images that already surround us. In a nutshell, I paint because I enjoy the process of getting lost in color and form, but I also create in order to bring other people joy. The scenes which make me happiest are typically related to the ocean, and other scenes from my travels. Once in a while, I will surprise even myself, and will be called to paint subjects that I don’t typically paint. My paintings include scenes which I hope will foster a sense of joy and relaxation, and will create places of memory which we can revisit again and again.I paint in an impressionistic style. Depending on my mood, I will paint outdoors en plein air, which results in a looser, more fluid style. I also have a body of work which is created via the direct method. Those paintings, are a little more structured, yet they still have glimpses of my fluid strokes and vibrant colors.
Bio
I have been painting for over 25 years. Prior to painting, I experimented with other art mediums (pastel drawing, ceramics, acrylic painting) – but I have found that oil painting is what has sparked my true artistic spirit.I am fortunate to live in San Diego, California where I think we have some of the most beautiful beaches in the state. My daytime profession is in healthcare, but my artful spirit calls me to create on a regular basis.Education1991 - Minor in Art, University of California, Irvine1998 - 2018 - Apprenticeship under Tetrachromat Artist Concetta K.
