Description
An aerial image over Western Australia's famous Lake Dumbleyung, in the State's Great Southern region. The lake is quite large and is often dry and salt encrusted, which is the main reason it was chosen by Donald Campbel for his famous record breaking speed run in his "Bluebird" in 1964. But on my visit in early 2018 there had been recent big summer storms and the lake was quite waterlogged. And seeing it from above, it still offered some beautiful colours, textures and tones, with the stark dead gum tress providing extra contrast.

I’m a self-taught, fine art/landscape photographer living in beautiful Western Australia. My passion is to create stunning and captivating images showcasing the extraordinary beauty Mother Nature bestows for us, and I love pushing the boundaries of traditional landscape photography towards art, through use of movement, abstracts and minimalism. I believe my art wonderfully illustrates that Mother Nature is the truly the ultimate artist.
My love affair with photography began way back as an 11 year old taking a Kodak Instamatic on a trip to Africa with my grandparents and I was a bit hooked. But it took many more years to really apply my love for it – life just got in the way. It wasn’t until about 5 years ago, I decided to make the leap and put a big focus on advancing my love for photography and start my own business.
My photographic style began with a liking for wide expansive landscapes, and whilst I do still very much enjoy this spectrum of photography, my interest and motivation has moved to more intimacy in landscapes. I now really love pushing the boundaries between photography and art, with a particular emphasis on movement in imagery and especially that of the ocean, of which we are so blessed in Australia. I also love to focus on the tiny aspects of beauty in nature, even in the simple or seemingly mundane – it maybe a cliché, but my photographic journey really has opened my eyes more to all that Mother Nature offers.
And my other newfound love is aerial photography, either using a drone or occasionally hanging out the door of a small Cessna to capture more of nature’s magic. This aerial vantage point really reveals a whole new way of seeing and capturing the extraordinary beauty of our planet, often producing some incredible abstract imagery, which I also so love.
I really want my art to create an emotional response for the viewer, as well as help facilitate a closer connection to our natural world, and ultimately foster a true desire to help better care for our Planet and inspire people to make it a better place for generations to come. Mother Nature really does desperately need our help.
I’m always trying to do my little bit to help our amazing planet, so I’ve teamed up with OneTreePlanted and will donate 1% of my sales towards global reforestation. So everytime you view a purchased piece of my artwork or use my merchandise you’ll know a tree is now growing to help our planet survive J Please check out this amazing endeavour on www.onetreeplanted.org. I’m also a very proud member of Nature First: The Alliance for Responsible Nature Photography (www.naturefirstphotography.org).
