Story:
Another winter rain arrived in Santiago, bringing fresh snow to the mountains surrounding the city. Over the weekend, I visited a region known as Cajón del Maipo. Near Alfalfal, there was a beautiful waterfall I had photographed a few years ago. Given the altitude, I expected to find it frozen—but to my disappointment, it was completely dry. I couldn’t tell whether this was due to climate change, water being diverted to a nearby power station, or the mining complex in the area.
Disheartened, we continued on to another area called Baños Morales. It was completely blanketed in snow, with hundreds of families parked along the roadside, enjoying the snow and having picnics.
On the way back, I noticed some cars turning off the main road into a valley called Las Melosas. After a few kilometers, we found many cars parked and discovered a gorge with a waterfall. The lighting was perfect, thanks to the cloud cover, and I was struck by the dramatic rock formations of the gorge.
I'm sharing images of this landscape in this collection—composite photographs made from two handheld shots I captured during this visit.

I am a passionate photographer, blessed with curious eyes that are constantly amazed by the forms and designs produced by water, and the combination of its temperature and light. No matter how many pictures I take of the same shot, every time I witness a very different expression.
My camera and I have been traveling around the world since 1977, registering its shapes and essence, which I have been sharing through large prints, as an homage to its abundance, fragility, and essential existence; trying to convey the feeling I had at the time of the capture, registering most of the time in color and sometimes in monochrome.
