Modest and Furious

I am fascinated by the languages of memory, the processes of creating and archiving memories in our mind as well as the mechanisms that allow them to be retrieved. I am interested in the suppression of some of them as a result of our will or their repression through the mysterious paths that roam through our unconscious world. Life in the global village exposes us daily to horror as well as the sublime, to injustice and suffering as well as to rapture. If ugliness is often unbearable, beauty too can be frightening. Memory returns the artistic languages of the past, of our collective and personal history. Greek proportions, the red of Pompeii, and Byzantine golden mosaics. Treasures of knowledge pulsating in our imagination as inexhaustible material, an irrepressible sap of reinvention, of reconstruction. Through our memory the new lives by integrating the past.
