Description
Abstract Landscape Oil on Paper Series
Coastal abstract, oil and willow charcoal on Arches oil paper, with 2 deckle edges, 22" x 30" unframed.
An abstract painting depicts a landscape with a variety of colors including turquoise, blue, and yellow, with elements resembling mountains or hills. The use of colors and brushstrokes gives an impressionist feel to the scene, suggesting a sense of freedom and a vast, open sky. Despite the shapes in the painting being indistinct and blending into each other, they contribute to the overall relaxed atmosphere of the artwork.

Dorothy Fagan
United States
Soul Expressionist Dorothy Fagan paints the threshold of dreams and the waking world. Fusing paint with dry media, she explores the human/nature connection with earthy pigments, charcoal, and translucent, iridescent shimmer. Inspired by her Virginia garden by the pond, Fagan's work elicits a visceral response, uplifting and soothing all at once
I sense colors in my body as I paint. My palette is aligned to chakra energy centers in the body. Earth colors in the lower part of the body balance sky colors above the heart. This alternating current opens flow through the heart and creates harmony between body and spirit.
My current work is about acceptance, allowing spirit to fully embody me and my paintings. A victim of a life-threatening assault forty years ago, it is now safe to embody myself and my art.
I sense in the world a great yearning for peace and acceptance. Conflict and busyness distract from our ability as human beings to create peace and acceptance within ourselves.
