Delbar Azari

My fascination with color and light started at an early age; I could spend hours playing with chandelier crystals, examining the effects of light going through different facets. My new body of work is very much the continuation of the same curiosity and experimentation, and explores the qualities of light and color, especially in relationship with translucency.Currently I use different reflective, translucent, and transparent materials to create a visual effect that will change based on the environment's light and one’s point of view. Moreover, the diffusion of light as it passes through the translucent material, creates a sense of mystery and suggests boundless possibilities, which resembles all the opportunities and risks that life has to offer. My designs are inspired by the natural beauty around me; ocean waves and Santa Monica mountains, and the translucent fog that dances between the two.
