Artist Statement

I imagine dirigibles with steam engines, I think about harnessing time to send rocket ships into space, I envision refitting classic cars with complex industrials. Then I make these things in metal, small sculptures (some are also brooches and can be worn). Finally, I delight in the joy that others show when seeing these "Transported" creations. I use traditional metalworking techniques. All pieces begin with raw metal stock (NO found objects). Brooches are available with a frame so that they may be displayed on a wall when not being worn. Many pieces include movable parts. See how I make these pieces, step by step: https://steamsmithworks.blogspot.com/2015/08/the-making-of-steampowered-57-chevy.html
