Artist Statement
When selecting my subject matter, I often draw from personal connections to the areas I depict. My deep love for nature, whether it’s the calming sea or the majestic mountains, plays a significant role in my choice of scenery. Additionally, I am deeply intrigued by the interactions between people, especially within urban environments, where contrasts between historical and modern elements create compelling narratives. What attracts me to a particular scene is the opportunity to present it from a unique perspective. For instance, in my Waikiki Beach series, I focus on aerial shots that capture not just the bustling beach activity but also the calming water patterns, and the beautiful reflections of the setting sun. I love to transport the viewer into the scene, allowing them to feel its mood and atmosphere as if they were there.I am inspired by the beauty of the world around us and strive to share this beauty through my art. In a busy and often overwhelming world, I'm offering the viewer moments of hope, inspiration, and mental respite. By showcasing intricate details and often-overlooked aspects of familiar places, I wish to remind viewers of the inherent beauty and harmony that exists, even in crowded urban spaces. My technique is rooted in a keen observational eye and a deep appreciation for both nature and history. I utilize a range of photographic techniques to convey my artistic vision. Long exposures help me tame the ocean, creating a sense of calm, while fast shutter speeds capture the energy and turbulence of big waves. Additionally, I focus on the human element, capturing the connections and feelings shared among people. This blend of natural beauty, historical context, and human relationships makes my work distinctive and resonant.Through my art, I endeavour to reveal the beauty that surrounds us, offering viewers a chance to find inspiration and peace in the chaos of modern life.
